Hannover Medical School

The origins of the Hannover Medical School (MHH) go back to 1961. In June of that year, the National Science Council (WR) recommended that seven new academies of medicine be founded in the Federal Republic of Germany in order to increase the number of students of medicine by 7,000. Within the month, the parliament of Lower Saxony decided to go forward with plans to establish a state medical university here.

The Hannover Medical School campus covers an area larger than 50 football fields – more than 400,000 square metres – bordering on Karl-Wiechert-Allee in the district of Gross-Buchholz. Here, the Central Clinic is surrounded by the Clinic for Paediatrics, the Gynaecology and Obstetrics, the transplantation research center - the so called Hans Borst Center for Heart and Stem Cell Research - further research laboratories, lecture theatres, the library, the Center of non medical health care schools, administration buildings as well as residences and recreational facilities.

Two clinics are located at other locations in Hannover: the Clinic for Orthopaedic Surgery (in the Annastift Hospital) and the Clinic for Dermatology, Allergology and Venerology (at the moment still in Hannover-Linden).

CNSystems Medizintechnik AG

Univ. Prof. Dr. Falko Skrabal, Dr. Peter Moser and Dr. Jürgen Fortin founded CNSystems Medizintechnik AG in Graz, Austria, in 1998. The company develops, manufactures and sells equipment for noninvasive, continuous monitoring of blood pressure and other vital parameters. CNSystems was a spin-off from research activities at the Medical University and University of Technology Graz, Austria.
